A Kitchen In The Garden
Madrona, Seattle, WA
Construction starts Summer, 2011
This kitchen is on one of the winding little streets of the Madrona neighborhood. The house sits well below the street front, so one has to travel past a cascading landscape to reach the front door. The kitchen is next to a charming little patio that looks up that magnificent garden hill. B+L is helping the homeowners transform the kitchen into a place that works not only for cooking, but is also a pleasure to be in, even when they’re not thinking about food. We designed an efficient one wall kitchen that allows space for a multi-purpose table where food preparation, hanging out, and entertaining are equally inviting. While the kitchen used to feel cut-off from the rest of the house, it now has a flow that connects inside and out.
Features:
- Metal elements, milestone wall, and table fashioned by local artisans.
- Cabinetry made from FSC plywood and finished with no-VOC paint by B+L.
- Shelving, cutting board, and tabletop made from reclaimed madrona.
