    We are an award-winning design/build firm dedicated to designing and building sustainable homes. We’re a busy, creative, caring, and mission-driven group of people working together to make a difference in the world, and we’re looking to add another skilled craftsperson to this passionate team!!     Our ideal candidate has 4+ years of custom single-family residential (new and remodel) construction experience. Some green building experience is a plus, but we can teach that. Must have the ability to read plans, a love of learning, and their own set of carpentry tools.

    First and foremost, we are looking for that individual who will bring to our company their commitment to a great working environment, in addition to their qualities and skills.

    Required Qualities and Skills:

    • Aptitude for, and love of, learning

    • Understanding of, and hands-on experience in, design-driven residential construction, from foundation & framing to finish & trim

    • Commitment to implementing green building best practices (building science training a big plus)

    • Strong sense of pride in workmanship

    • Willing and able to work in the field, indoor and outdoor

    • Basic computer skills (email and cloud-based file sharing & calendar software)

    • Active listening and verbal communication skills

    • Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction

    • Problem solving skills

    • Personal hand and power tools appropriate for the job

    • Ability to finish tasks on time and stay organized

    • Reliable transportation and ability to haul miscellaneous materials and owned tools

    • Strong ability to work and communicate with co-workers, subcontractors, clients, and others (verbal and written)

    • Must have valid clean driver's license and record that allows us to reasonably insure for driving

    • Carry up to 60 pounds

    • Climb stairs and ladders often

    • Kneel/squat/push/pull/crawl and reach outward and overhead frequently

    • Awareness of, and respect for, normal hazards associated with construction environment

    Responsibilities:

    • Co-create a safe, clean job site and work environment for the welfare of our people, our clients and our communities. This includes paying special attention to our Healthy Job Site Plan and Batt + Lear’s values of sustainability, quality, and inclusivity.

    • Read architectural drawings and understand design intent

    • Take direction from on-site supervisor

    • Implement building projects, hands-on, according to Batt + Lear’s drawings, specs and green building quality standards
